About
A gallery with no walls, and no gate at the door.
Alémi was founded in 2026 by Alaa Alhalemi, an artist and curator who had spent long enough on both sides of the gallery door to see how narrow it is. Representation went to names that were already known. Group shows asked for a fee before they asked to see the work. Everything else was a feed that buried a serious painting by morning. The talent was never the missing piece. The room was.
Alémi is that room, an online gallery and marketplace built for emerging and independent artists, curated with the standards of a physical gallery and none of its gatekeeping: no representation required, no career history required, no fee to be seen. Work is selected on merit, photographed and catalogued to exhibition standard, and placed in front of collectors who came here to buy original work. Artists keep the full proceeds of every sale, deal with their buyers directly, and remain free to show and sell anywhere else.
From the first group of works listed on Alémi, 2026.
What we look for
Three things, and none of them is a résumé.
01
A hand you can recognise
Twenty pieces that clearly come from the same person, even when the subject changes.
02
Work that is finished
Signed, dry, ready to ship. We are not a place to test ideas in public.
03
A price you can defend
Tell us how you got to the number. If it is too low we will say so.
